IDLP is the economic arm for the Innu of Labrador with a focus on Innu Employment across all job levels. Implementing a preference policy maximizing Innu participation in IDLP Businesses. We implement training initiatives for Innu people with all contractors and sub contractors. Where sub-contractors are needed, utilizing qualified Innu Companies registered on the IBDC registry.

CHALLENGE
Operating in a communications capacity for any government or government organization is always a challenge. Acting on behalf of both Innu communities – Sheshatshiu and Natuashish – IDLP was experiencing difficulty in communicating the organization’s vision and the work that they are doing to advance the profile of the Labrador Innu both in the province and across Canada. We knew that a more active voice on social media was important, but that was just the beginning.
STRATEGY
Our first step was to collaborate with our Public Relations/Communications division and uncover exactly where the problems laid so that we could then chart the correct path. The next step was to visit the communities and capture high quality photo and video of both the work IDLP is doing, as well as content that helps tell the story of who the Labrador Innu are and what they represent. A new website was then developed to help display who they are and what they do.
Agencies that understand their users build more effective websites. With all of our websites, we take the time at the beginning to not just understand our clients, but to understand their clientele. As we look through competitor’s websites and understand our client’s goals, we can then begin to craft our navigation, a list of functionality, and a design that ties it all together.
