We don’t just win awards, we present them too.
We’ve been a sponsor of TheDesigners for the last 2 years, and are again this year for the third in a row. Not only that, John Atkins has been invited to present the 2019 TheDesigners award!
TheDesigners are a group of like minded creatives in Newfoundland working to build sense of community in the local marketing and design industries.
TheDesigners and their crew of local creative community partners are very proud to present visionary American Graphic Designer, author, illustrator, design-historian, curator (Contemporary Design at National Design Museum, NYC), and Director of the Graphic Design MFA program at Maryland Institute College of Art, ELLEN LUPTON in St. John’s. A Gentle Manifesto for Graphic Design, exploring design practice through the lenses of beauty, care, inclusion, and sensory experience. Ellen Lupton will share ideas from her best-selling publication Design Is Storytelling and from two new projects in the making: Health Design Thinking (with Bon Ku) and Extra Bold: A Feminist Career Guide for Graphic Designers (with Jennifer Tobias). We’re very very excited to hear Ellen’s thoughts on these important topics – her views and insights will be eye-opening and inspiring, and are sure to send everyone home with a new outlook on where our local creative community can further reach new heights.
Extra Bold: An Evening with Ellen Lupton will also feature an exhibit of the 2019 CNA graphic design graduating students’ work; the presentation of the 2019 “TheDesigners award”, and more.
